This is a plain escutcheon (no cover) that is fitted to cover and protect a keyhole that has been cut into a door. This type is surface fixed using the woodscrews provided. Cast from malleable iron, a protective undercoat (phosphate) treatment is applied prior to the final coating of black paint. A traditional dip paint process is used thereafter, to aid the dull black appearance. Suitable for internal and external use.
