This ring handle is screwed to the face of the door and can be used on its own or in conjunction with a gate latch. The rear of the handle has a facility to house a spindle which would pass through the door to connect with the latch on the other side. When the handle is turned, the spindle rotates, freeing the door to open. Cast from malleable iron, a protective undercoat (phosphate) treatment is applied prior to the final coating of black paint. A traditional dip paint process is used thereafter, to aid the dull black appearance. Suitable for internal and external use.
